Lara’s Sideboard

At its very core it’s a box. Like at its very core a Rolls Royce in an automobile.

It’s a box made using superb materials and exquisite workmanship. At each end it is supported by a torsion box which is a box with innards glued in place so that it is resistant to all forms of stress. It is super strong. In furniture parlance these “slabs” are called pedestal ends.

The outside of the box is veneered with Macassar Ebony. The inside with Fiddleback English Sycamore. The pedestal ends are veneered with Royal Macassar Ebony. The black and white color is exactly as it grows. It’s not spalted or decayed tissue like we see on Spalted Maple or English Brown Oak. It’s just its natural self.
